Ortho-K
Ortho-Keratology (Ortho-K) Contact Lenses

Imagine wearing contact lenses during the night, removing them when you wake up in the morning and not having to wear anything during the day.
Ortho-K is ideal for sports, or jobs where contact lenses and glasses may be unsuitable - for example dusty or dry environments. Or if you find normal contact lens wear uncomfortable during the day.
Ortho-K lenses are high oxygen gas-permeable contact lenses which flatten your cornea in a similar way to Laser Eye Surgery. Unlike laser eye surgery, Ortho-K's effects are totally reversible and have no risk of glare, haze or double vision after treatment. The contact lenses are slept in every night although the corneas normally remain shaped for over 3 days - overnight wear can occasionally be missed without the level of vision changing.
As a powerful testimonial, two of the Mackey Family wear Ortho-K lenses and have not had to worry about spectacles for over 3 years.
Ortho-Keratology contact lenses are ideally suited for low to medium myopes (short-sighted people) with low levels of astigmatism (<2.00 dioptres). However the levels able to corrected depend on the original shape of your corneas. We will scan the front of your eyes (your corneas) at thousands of points to create a 3-dimensional model on which we can design your custom-made lenses.
