This year's London Marathon may be completely free of spectacles if participants take up Johnson & Johnson's offer of free contact lenses for the event.
All 50,000 entrants are being offered free daily disposable lenses for 30 days to train in and see whether the use of contact lenses enhances their performance. Families and supporters of runners are also eligible for the deal.
Joint race director of the Virgin London Marathon, Hugh Brasher, said: "I'm delighted to be working alongside Johnson & Johnson Vision Care to offer all of our runners the chance to perform at their absolute best on race day. Mackey Opticians, based in Belfast and employing 57 people, is celebrating the awarding of the prestigious Investor in People accreditation
Minister for Employment and Learning, Danny Kennedy, outlined the bottom-line business benefits that organisations receive when they become Investors in People (IiP) accredited.
Speaking at the IiP celebration event at Hillsborough Castle where thirty seven businesses from across Northern Ireland received the prestigious award, the Minister said: "Today is not just about the right to display a plaque on the wall, although that public statement is in itself important. The real cause for celebration is the improvements in the organisations that have achieved IiP status - improvements brought about as a result of hard work and commitment in effectively managing and developing their most important asset -people.

Don't forget to look after your children's eyes with regular eye examinations. We believe that all children should have regular checks from pre-school.
Children are now only screened for their vision in P1 but never after this. And screening only looks at distance vision so it can still miss reading or close vision problems (long-sightedness), eye coordination and other eye problems.
If you have any queries about your children's vision, make sure you make an appointment. Children can be tested from any age and Mackey Opticians have special tests for those who don't know their letters yet.
